Ramakrishna Mission Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan; City walls beautified

Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission’s Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan and Shramdan volunteers cleaned Jail Road, Karangalpady, Kodialbail and MG Road areas here on Sunday.

Areas near Canara First Grade College, SDM College were cleaned by them by removing weeds from both sides of the roads and footpaths. Both sides of Jail Road till Karangalpady were cleaned by one of their groups.

The volunteers cleared drains of debris to enable smooth flow of rainwater. Heaps of garbage was removed from a corner on CG Kamath Road and the spot was decorated with flowerpots to prevent the public from littering again.

The beauty of the city is being ruined by the posters pasted on several compound walls in the city. So the volunteers of Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan removed such posters from several compound walls and gave a facelift to them with artistic paintings and drawings.

The volunteers In an effort to create awareness among people to keep public property clean, since a week, the volunteers have been adorning the compound walls on MG Road and Canara College with paintings and trendy art craft. Vikram Shetty and Shailesh Kotian of Aditattwa Arts and other members of the group are busy in giving them a make-over.

Swami Jitakamanandaji of Ramakrishna Mutt, Mangaluru, magician Kudroli Ganesh were among those who participated in the drive. MRPL and Nitte Institutions are sponsoring the drive.
