Kasaragod: Even as passport security features are being increased, fake passport preparation gangs are becoming active again.
Previously, the police has successfully uncovered the centralized fake passport preparation net at Palakunnu in Hosadurga district. The crime branch police which was investigating this case was neither able to locate 250 individuals who had received fake passport through this net, nor locate the additional people associated with it.
Now, the crime branch has received information about a team preparing fake passport through a new method. By replacing the individual’s photo on an original passport with someone else’s photo, the fake passport is being prepared, inform the police.
Use of modern technology
The team is preparing fake passport with use of modern technology under the name of Kasaragod agency in the district, informed the police.
The individuals submitting application for passport as part of the security feature are directly called to the centre and their photo is removed. Here every certificate is sensitively investigated. Therefore it is not easy to create a fake passport in the old method and also fake passports can be easily identified, said passport department officials. Hence fake passport net is using a new method for preparation.
Contact with foreign?
Information has been obtained about many people who had made use of such passports and gone to the Middle East. There is suspicion that these fake passport creators have close contact with foreigh fake passport creators, say the police.
