Bengaluru: After the Special Investigation Team (SIT) documented the charge-sheet regarding the Lankesh murder, new disclosures are being made every day. The most recent disclosure has been that legal confirmation focuses to a connection between the murder of writer activist Gauri Lankesh and Kannada researcher and scientist, M Kalburgi.

Gauri Lankesh was gunned down at point-clear range before her home on September 5, 2017. M Kalburgi was killed on August 30, 2015. Up until this point, five individuals have been captured by the SIT regarding Lankesh’s murder. Every one of the five-K T Naveen Kumar (from Maddur), Sujeet Kumar (from Udupi), Amol Kale (from Pune), Amit Degwekar (from Ponda) and Manohar Edave (from Vijayapura)- are said to be associated with the Sanatan Sanstha and its member Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS).

The culprits behind Kalburgi’s murder are still unknown. Up until this point, police have not arrested anybody nor recuperated the murder weapon that snuffed Kalburgi’s life.

However, police made some progress when they examined K T Naveen. In his statement to the police, K T Naveen uncovered that Lankesh was killed for her statements against the Hindu religion.

As indicated by the forensic report attached to the charge-sheet, the same 7.65 mm country pistol was utilized as a part of both the killings.

After Lankesh’s murder, three bullets were recuperated from her body and another that missed her was likewise gathered. The bullets’ four empty cartridges were also recovered. This ballistic proof was contrasted with the bullets and cartridges gathered after Kalburgi’s murder. According to the report, the examination between the “class characteristics marks” and “individual characteristics marks” of the discharging pin on cartridge cases found in the two murder cases demonstrate that a similar weapon was utilized for the two killings.

This most recent disclosure has given some confidence to the hypothesis that same association and individuals may have been engaged with both the murders.
