Car falls into a ditch, woman dies

Mulki: A woman died after the driver of the car in which she was travelling lost control of the vehicle near Bharat Benz Service Centre on Karnadu national highway and fell into a 10 feet deep ditch.
The deceased woman has been identified as Appi A. Sherigar (83), wife of Mulki Bappanadu Nagaswara Vidvan Late. Bappanadu Annu Sherihar and mother of Rajyotsava Award honored artist Nagesh Bappanadu. She is survived by four sons and a daughter.
The accident occurred as the deceased was coming back home with her grandson after visiting the doctor at Surathkal. The driver Surendra and grandson Tushar are far from danger. Though the son Nagesh hurriedly rushed his injured mother to the hospital in his car, it was all in vain.
The accident took place during heavy rains. The driver lost control of the car after the windshield of the car was covered by the mud water pooled on the road and ended up in the ditch. Mangaluru north traffic police have registered the case.
Dangerous water
The problem of water amassed on the high=way has been observed at many places. There are previous examples where such accidents have taken place. The people should express their outrage against such problems arising on highways constructed at cost of crores of rupees.
