MLC elections: Marithibbe Gowda re-elected

Mysuru: The counting of votes for the Legislative Council was done in different centres in Mysuru, Gulbarga, and Bengaluru on June 12.
According to most recent reports, in the South Teachers’ Constituency three-time MLC Marithibbe Gowda of the Janata Dal (S) has been re-elected to the council. After the eighth round of counting Marithibbe Gowda got 7170 votes beating his closest rival and Congress applicant M Lakshmana. As no one got the triumphant portion, the last standing hopeful, Marthibbe Gowda was declared the champ.
In the South West Teachers’ Constituency, the sitting MLC Capt. Ganesh Karnik of the BJP was trailing after the seventh round of counting the South West Teachers’ Constituency. S L Bhoje Gowda was ahead of the pack with 6283 votes while Capt. Ganesh Karnik got 5376 votes.
