Gauri Lankesh murder case: another suspect arrested

Bengaluru: A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh, police said on Tuesday. 

 Special Investigation Team Investigation Officer M.N. Anucheth in an announcement said “Regarding the Gauri Lankesh case, the SIT has arrested Parshuram Wagmare, hailing from Sindagi (in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district),”

The charged was delivered in a court here on Tuesday and was sent to 14 days of judicial custody for further investigation.

“His (Wagmare’s) part in the conspiracy and other details will be uncovered later as it would effect the investigation at this stage,” the announcement included. 

The SIT has so far arrested four others in connection with the murder. 

On March 2, 37-year-old K.T. Naveen Kumar was arrested after almost 15 illegally possessed bullets were recuperated from him by police. 

Lankesh, 55, the Editor of “Lankesh Patrike”, was shot dead outside her residence in the city’s suburb by unidentified attackers on September 5, a year ago. 

As indicated by the police, out of the total seven bullets fired  by the unidentified men, three had hit Lankesh – two in the chest and one in the forehead.
