Puttur: SIT team arrested two persons in connection with faking votes during Assembly elections 2018.

The accused have been identified as Abbas from Alanthadka and Ibrahim from Pallathur.

They two have been accused of encouraging a person to cast vote on behalf of a person who was not in town.

It has been reported that, the person who was living in a foreign country could not make it on Election Day. Hence the duo planned and casted vote using Shaukat Ali’s card. A BJP agent had expressed doubts about the identity of the voter. A detailed verification of voter identity card revealed that the person who was trying to exercise franchise was not genuine.

As the person trying to cast fake vote was found to be minor, he was booked under Juvenile Justice Act and handed over to the possession of his parents.
