N R Narayana Murthy unable to head SPB due to age: HDK

Bengaluru: Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Thursday revealed that Infosys founder, N R Narayana Murthy, is probably not going to head the State Planning Board (SPB) due to his age and other commitments. 

Speaking to the journalists CM said “While trying to select somebody to the SPB, we have to consider the age factor. At 71 years, Murthy, with his different duties outside the government, will most likely be unable to take up a government position.” 

Kumaraswamy had met Murthy on June 6 at the his residence, starting hypothesis that the CM was enthused about bringing him into the governmental. The gossip was that Murthy would particularly be consulted to help the government to connect infrastructure gaps in Bengaluru. While the Infosys originator has not uncovered what unfolded amid their maating, it was said Kumaraswamy needed him to explicitly guide the government in such manner. 

Tested about it on Thursday, Kumaraswamy emphasized that the government was eager to accept any recommendation by the IT-BT honcho or any other person. “My discussion with Murthy related to consulting him on government administartion. There is no choice on a government position for Murthy now,” he clarified. 

Kumaraswamy said he wanted to redo the SPB and expedite it standard with Niti Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) which was entrusted with formulating policies and giving guidance for the Center. “We will have somebody of the stature of Murthy to head SPB,” Kumaraswamy said.
