Mentally challenged youth mistaken as thief beaten up by mob

Belagavi: A mentally challneged youth from Uttaranchal was mistaken a thief and was thrashed by a crowd in B.K. Kangrali town in Belagavi on Friday. 

The youth, around 30 years old, was going around houses in the town during the night. Some people saw him and attempted to address him. 

They presumed that he was a thief who was searching for locked houses. He was tied with ropes and beaten up. His shirt was torn and he endured wounds all over, hands and legs. Later they called the police and gave him over. Cops from Kakati town took him to the government hospital and attempted to address him after he recovered. He revealed that he was from Uttaranchal and had come to Karnataka by mistake. 

A police officer said “He doesn’t appear to be mentally stable. We are informing the Uttaranchal police,” A case has been enrolled in Kakati police station.
