KRRS threatens of dissent demanding farm-loan waiver

Davangere: The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS), on June 16, debilitated to hold a dissent against the strategies used to postpone the disbursement of debt relief to farmers by the Congress-JD(S) coalition state government.

Addressing media, KRRS President Chamara Malipatil said that the individuals from the farmer’s association would hold protests at each district on Monday, June 18. 

“On May 30, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy addressed the farmer’s associations and guaranteed farmer loan waiver within 15 days. So far nothing has been done”, he claimed. 

KRRS president said that the farmers had to pay an installment by June 16 to benefit the zero interest rate and the negligence of the government on the issue had farmer’s stressed. “Farmer’s are additionally confronting budgetary troubles to begin new farming activities”, he told a news meeting on Saturday. 

“Congress has given an unrestricted help to the coalition government. So there ought to be no issue in proceeding with the loan waiver”, he said and spoke to the Congress to collaborate on the farm debt waiver. 

Farmers were not able repay loans due to the loss they suffered because of the natural calamities and low costs for agricultural products in the free market, Malipatil said. “This is the principle motivation behind why the government should waive off farm loans”, he suggested.
