Bengaluru/New Delhi: The Union Ministry for Highways and Road Transport has passed the notice in regards to a new venture for making the installation of green number plates on electrical vehicles mandatory.
To motivate the use of environmental friendly electric vehicles, the central government which has officially proclaimed tax concession, subsidy and different offers, now has come up this new venture.
Presently, across the nation, private vehicles have white number plates and rented or traveler vehicles have yellow number plates. In Karnataka, there are around 1.92 Crore vehicles with more than one lakh of the vehicles getting added each month. The smoke produced by vehicles has been the main reason behind air pollution in the cities. In examination, there are not many electric vehicles-just 11, 684 electric vehicles in the state, including 7,185 bikes and 4,004 light engine vehicles.
In Bengaluru, there are 73 lakh vehicles, the number of electric vehicles is only 6,275. Along these lines, both state and union governments have announced new plans to advance the utilization of electric vehicles. The state government has declared road tax while Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) chose to give power to Rs. 4.85/unit for those who set up electric vehicle charging centres like petroleum bunks.
