Prostitution racket busted in Mangaluru city

Mangaluru: City Crime branch police conducted a raid and arrested two persons in connection with prostitution activities in the city.

It has been reported that a prostitution racket was actively functioning in an aparment near Kottara cross on Bejai-Kapikad road, here.

The accused have been identified as Jeevan Poojary (27) of Udupi and K P Nagaraj(27) of Chennarayapatna.

The accused were operating mangalore.locanto.net website through which they were running their business. Based on a tip off, the CCB police on Friday raided an aparment near Kottara cross on Bejai-Kapikad road and arrested the duo.

The accused had put up their mobile numbers on the website and customers who contacted them would be told to come to the flat, where they would be supplied girls.

The police also rescued two girls who were being used for the racket and handed them over women rehabilitation centre.

Two mobile phones and Rs 30,222 in cash along with a couple of two-wheelers were seized from the accused. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at Rs 1,26,295.
