Mulki:As per the order of the central government’s environment department, the Mulki city panchayath has decided to stop use of any type of plastic bags within the city panchayat limits. The decision was taken at the monthly meeting which was presided over by Mulki city panchayat president Sunil Alva.
The public will be sensitized and warned on not to use plastic bags in the first phase. On repeat offence, legal action will be taken against the offender, informed the president.
Almost 40% of the wastage at the wastage management unit in the city is made up of unclassified plastic items. Since this is a problem of the management system, the members must give support to the officials for the next operation.
Industrial waste let into fields
At some places in Karnadu industrial area, waste is being let out into the fields and wells of the residents here. A letter has to be written to the department in this regard, to systemize the waste management, requested panchayat member Puttu Bava.
The meeting decided to start the process of land acquisition of a government site close to Mulki bus stop along the highway.
The meeting took decision to run action plans for a few works with the S.F.C. grant of 93 lakh rupees from the government and importance will be given to the primary problems in the city. The meeting gave permission to Karnadu Young Star Association to construct a bus stop near Karnadu bypass.
MLA Umanath Kotiyan was felicitated by the panchayat administration during this occasion.
Permission necessary
Henceforth, to fill mud and flatten any site within Mulki city panchayat, the panchayath officials will check the site, submit the report only after which the permission will be given, informed the president Sunil Alva.
