Illegal red stone quarry raided at Ekkaru

Bajpe: The revenue, forest, mines and geology departments conducted a raid at an allegedly illegal red stone quarry functioning on a government plot at Arasu Padav in Badaha Ekkar village within Ekkar Gram Panchayat limits.

As a result of the raid 19 quarry machines, 1 truck and 1 load of red stones were seized. The raid was conducted under the guidance of Tashildar Guruprasad, Regional Forest Officer Shridhar and Mines and Geology department Mines scientist Moorty.

The officials informed that the decision on if the quarry land is private of government land, will only be decided after a survey is done.

The localities have expressed their opposition to the mining activity occurring here at Ekkar Gram Sabha and have requested that action be taken to prevent it.
