Infosys offers Rs 200 crore to Bengaluru metro

Bengaluru: The Infosys’ social arm Infosys Foundation offered to give Rs 200 crore to the Bengaluru metro network venture, said Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday, July 7.
“The Foundation’s commitment will be utilized to build the Konappana Agrahara metro station and metro track of the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL),” he stated, according to an official discharge.
Valuing the Foundation for its drives for the advancement of society, the Chief Minister lauded its director Sudha Murthy for moving different corporates to follow it in releasing corporate social responsibility.
“The Foundation will keep up the station for 30 years and contributing funds to the people’s needs gives delight throughout everyday life,” said Murthy.
The metro service, which opened to public in 2011, as of now includes two lines in its stage one – green and purple – covering 43 km of the 800 sq km city with regularly extending suburbs.
The state has proposed an expansion of the current lines under stage two, which is relied upon to be developed by March 2023.
