Three killed as iron pillar slashes through bus

Karwar: No less than three people were killed and a few others severely injured in an awful accident including a KSRTC transport and a lorry on National Highway 66 near Kumta on July 7.
Allegedly, the lorry laden with a huge iron pillar brushed against the bus near Panduranga Hotel close Kumta. Therefore, the pillar cut through on side of the bus, killing the passengers seated behind the driver. Those injured have been taken into different hospitals here.
The identities of the deceased remain unknown but the police said that they should be from near by areas of Kumta and Gokarna as the bus was travelling between these areas.
The police, with the help of local people, were clearing the accident spot for traffic movement.
