Compensation to wall collapse victims

Puttur: The family of two victims who died after a wall collapsed and during heavy rain in Puttur on July 7th, was given compensation by the state government on Sunday.

The deceased Parvathi (70) and Dhanush (11) were sleeping in the bedroom of their house at Hebbarbail in Puttur when the incessant rains caused the compound wall of their neighbour’s house to collapse on their house at around 1.45 a.m. on Saturday. The impact of the collapsed wall buried both the woman and child alive.

Minister for Urban Development and Housing U.T. Khader, Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA from Puttur Sanjeeva Matandoor, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil S. and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar visited the victim’s house on Sunday.

Rs. 10 lakh compensation was given to the family and an additional R. 95,000 was also provided for damage to the house.
