Miscreants poison prawn pond at Kundapura

Kundapura: Miscreants poisoned prawn farming ponds here at Trasi on Moday morning.

The prawn ponds belonging to Narasimha Mogaveera were poisoned by unknown miscreants here on the wee hours of Monday. 

It has been alleged that a man had asked for a partnership deal, but since it didnt work out he allegedly mixed poison into the pond killing prawns worth over Rs 22 lac.

It has been reported that, around 6,00,000 prawns were put into the ponds. They were ready to be sold but was delayed due to heavy rains.

The ponds were poisoned by pouring ten litres of substance into each of these ponds by using buckets. The ponds had prawns weighing nine tonnes, it is said. The buckets used to mix poison were found lying inside the ponds.

A police case has been registered in Gangolli police station in this regard.
