Court rejects Naveen Kumar’s bail plea

Bengaluru: The City Civil and Sessions Court on Monday dismissed the bail plea of Naveen Kumar, one of the accused in journalist Gauri Lankesh murder case.
Anucheth M.N., Deputy Commissioner of Police and investigating officer for the Special Investigation Team, contended under the watchful eye of the court without the special public prosecutor a week ago expressing that allowing bail would hamper the ongoing examination, as well as stance danger to the witnesses of this case.
Mr. Anucheth also contended that Naveen Kumar attempted to misdirect the investigation through the advocate, who documented a petition of that one of the witnesses, who gave deposed before the magistrate, wanted to retract the statement. The SIT later affirmed that the witness did not wish to do anything of the sort, and it was a pressure strategy to threaten the witness and hamper the examination.
Vedamurthy, advocate speaking to Naveen Kumar, said he would appeal before the High Court for bail.
