Anganwadi workers stage state-wide protest

Belagavi: The Anganwadis in Belagavi remained close as a large number of their workers staged a protest before the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday, July 10.
The Karnataka State Anganwadi Employees’ Association partnered to the CITU, had called a statewide protest demanding facilities for the Anganwadi workers in the state.
The dissenting Anganwadi workers said that notwithstanding their customary work each day, they are compelled to work on other duties, for example, elections, surveys, Bhagyalaxmi, Strishakti, schemes for the debilitated, Matrupoorna plan et cetera. Indeed, even after working past the stipulated work, the workers are harassed by the higher authorities for senseless things, they complained.
The dissenters likewise demanded up-gradation of the small Anganwadi centres into complete centres. They additionally demanded payment of honorary monthly remuneration, promotion to supervisor’s based on seniority, ceasing LKG/UKG classes at government schools in addition to other things.
