Team Udayavani, Jul 11, 2018, 5:25 PM IST
Once upon a time, star of Indian cricket team, S. Sreesanth is now testing his luck in the cinema world. In that too, he has entered Sandalwood by acting in Kiccha Sudeep starrer ‘Kempegowda-2’ movie. The movie’s shooting is happening in the city and in his spare time, Sreesanth shared his thoughts with ‘Udayavani’.
Once an A-lister in the Indian cricket team are you now focusing on the cinema industry?
I am very happy about getting an opportunity in Kannada cinema. This is a new experiment. I have faith that the people who watch Kannada movies will accept me as an actor.
At what level is the match fixing case?
The investigation has reached the Supreme Court and the judgment is expected on August 27th. If in case the judgment comes in my favour, I will play cricket from next October. I have already acted in two Bollywood movies. I have also acted in a Malyalam movie.
What is your opinion on the current Indian cricket team?
India is playing very well currently. Watching the cricket of the team members now, may be the team does not require me. After leaving cricket, I am already busy with TV shows, body building and other activities. Coming September, I’ll be leaving to America to participate in ‘Mister All India Physique’ competition and I am doing preparation for it.
What is your opinion on Karnataka cricketer, K.L. Rahul?
Rahul is a talented cricketer. He has taken training under Shashikant who was my first cricket coach. It is our luck that we have got another Rahul after the retirement of Rahul Dravid from the Indian cricket team. Though it is not right to compare K.L. Rahul with Rahul Dravid, Rahul has adapted to all forms of cricket and is giving a great performance. It won’t be a surprise, if one or the other day, Rahul becomes the captain of Indian cricket team. He has this capability.
How is your relationship with Mangaluru?
I played my life’s first cricket tournament in Mangaluru itself. When I was 12-years-old, I took part in the cricket tournament organized by the Karavali cricket club at the Municipal stadium. Whenever I get time, I visit Kollur Mookambika Temple and then come to Mangaluru too. The people here welcome outsiders whole heartedly. The beauty of Kannada spoken in Mangaluru is different. I like it very much.
What is your message to the youth?
Whatever field you select, work honestly in it. Attempt to give the highest performance. It will take you to the heights of success.
