Deputy CM assures to invoke Goonda Act to prevent drugs menace

Bengaluru: A serious discussion was held in the state assembly on Friday, July 13 about the drug cartel spreading its arms in Bengaluru and different parts of the state and the issues and obliteration let free by drugs abuse. Toward the end of these discussions, deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwara, promised to invoke provisions of Goonda Act to prevent drugs abuse.
The issue was brought up in the get together by former chief minister R Ashok, and other BJP officials. Parameshwar communicated the sentiment that it would be better if the central government takes this issue seriously and institute a law recommending death sentence to drug traffickers.
The recently elected legislators from coastal Karnataka took part effectively in this debate and thought of positive feedback and recommendations. Dr Bharath Shetty representing Mangalore (North) felt that the laws are satisfactory however the police are being ceased from making solid move against the culprits. He noticed that the police act against drug peddlers only when somebody files complaints. He asked the legislature to give free hand to police to deal with this issue, and urge them to make drug free zones within their limits so they can work with enthusiasm.
