Presumed as child traffickers, villagers attack men – one dies, two injured

Bidar: Rumors about child trafficking circulating through social media have been wreaking destruction all around, and in the majority of the incidences, innocent people face the consequences. In one such episode which occurred at Aurad taluk in the district, three people who were on a visit to a friend’s house were attacked by villagers. At the point when the men tried to escape, their car jumped into a gorge, killing one among them. Two others endured grievous injuries and were taken to the hospital. 

The deceased has been identified as Azam from Hyderabad. 

Three individuals from Hyderabad, Talaham, Salman and Azam had come to Handikera town in Aurad taluk to visit a friend there named Basheer. Basheer had welcomed all the three for feast at his home, as Talaham, who was studying in Qatar, had returned home after a long time. The visitors had offered foreign chocolates to few girls from Murki secondary school in Kamalnagar town on their way as they happy seeing them. The villagers, who assumed the visitors to be child lifters, assaulted them. The trio panicked and boarded their car and rushed away. Due to the speed, their car bounced into a roadside gorge that was 25 feet deep, after brushing against a man, Umesh Biradar. 

When the police came to the spot after being informed about the occurrence, rushed the trio to the hospital. The villagers engaged in heated argument with the police staff. The circumstance turned tense. The police then resorted to lathi-charge in which some police staff likewise endured minor wounds. In the middle of this skirmish, the police managed to take the injured to the hospital. Talaham succumbed to injuries on the way while the other two are being treated in the government hospital at Aurad.

Superintendent of police, D Devaraj, additional superintendent of police, Srihari Babu,Bhalki, deputy superintendent of police and Venkanagouda Patil went by the spot.
