Allegations against Indira Canteen project, politically motivated: Khader

Mangaluru: The allegations of irregularities in Indira Canteen project were baseless and politically motivated, said the State Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader on July 16th.

Speaking to reporters he said that the BJP MLA Ramdas’s allegations that here were irregularities to the tune of Rs 50 crore in Indira Canteen Project were aimed to mislead the public on the popular scheme of the previous government.

The minister informed that the Indira Canteen Project was planned at an estimated cost of Rs 211.24 crores of which Rs 113.78 crores has been spent on the project. Of the total 136 canteens, 72 are already operational while works regarding the rest are in progress, he explained.
