107 foreigners arrested in Bengaluru for violating visa term

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru police and authorities from the Foreign Regional Registration Office conducted simultaneous raids in East, South East and Whitefield divisions early Saturday morning and captured 107 foreign nationals who were residing illegally in the city after their visas had expired. All the arrested were from African countries, said the police, who recovered 650 grams of cannabis, 60 g of cocaine and 10 g of LSD from six of the arrested.
More than 120 police staff took part in the task and led raids on houses in T.C. Palya, Brindavan Layout, Seegehalli, Priyanka Nagar, Anandpura, Margondanahalli and different spots situated inside K.R. Puram police restrains around 5.45 a.m.
Abdul Ahad, DCP, Whitefield, said that the raid was directed after intelligence received from FRRO authorities. “The accused will be sent to legal custody. FRRO will decide about the deportation of these nationals,” he said.
