Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan: Special ‘shramadan’ at Marnamikatte, Mangaladevi areas

Mangaluru: On the last week of the 4th phase of Ramakrishna Mission’s Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan, a special shramadan was held in the areas of Marnamikatte and Mangaladevi on Sunday July 22nd.
Many volunteers participated in the Shramadan and they cleaned the area around Marnamikatta Railway Bridge and surrounding areas that needed attention. They removed the cement dustbin and the unused small shop lying near it. A JCB was used to level the land and to prevent people from littering again; they placed pots with flower saplings in the area.
Volunteers also cleaned the Mangaladevi car street and spread awareness among the residents by visiting houses door to door.
Swacchata Darshana: Special programme
A special programme of ‘Swachh Manas’ was conducted at 100 high schools as part of Ramakrishna Mission’s Swacchta Abhiyan. A small 100 marks written test was conducted to get feedback on the change that was brought about in the students by series of programmes conducted in various schools under Swachh Manas. More than 10,000 students took part in these exams.
Distribution of Drinking Water Units
Considering the need to provide clean drinking water to all students as part of Swachata Abhiyan, about 10 Drinking water units were installed in 10 different schools. The units were installed at Government high school Car Street and Balmatta, Madani high school at Ullal, Government higher primary school at Vamanjoor, Swami Sadananda Saraswathi high school at Nanthoor, Government high school at Moodushedde, Bhagani Samaja at Jeppu, Higher primary school Badriya Nagara Malluru and others. There plans to install such units at some more schools and at some village panchayats in the future.
Magic for Cleanliness
A special Magic Show Programme has been organized in 100 selected schools to create awareness on cleanliness among the students. Since last 40 days, world renowned magician Sri Kudroli Ganesh and team known as the Vismaya magic troupe, has conducted magic show title “Magic for Cleanliness” in 56 schools so far. Along with entertainment, the students are also educated on cleanliness and their role in ensuring a clean India.
