Parashuram Waghmare acquitted in hoisting Pakistan flag charge

Vijayapura: The first additional court at Vijayapura, on Monday July 23, cleared Parashuram Waghmare of the charge of raising Pakistani flag at Sindagi in Vijayapura district. Five others, who were comparatively charged for the same, were likewise acquitted.

Waghmare is the prime accused in journalist Gauri Lankesh’s murder, Waghmare had been named as fifth accused for a case in which he was charged alongside some others, of raising Pakistani flag on the tahasildar’s office at Sindagi on January 1, 2012. 

The accused for the situation, which included Anil Solankar, Mallanagouda Patil, Rohit Navil, Sunil Agasar, and Aruna, were charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code relating to talking against one’s own nation and delivering provocative speech. Judge of the court, Geetha K B, ordered release of all the blamed in the backdrop for technical shortcomings. 

The police, who brought Waghmare from Bengaluru for being presented in the court, took him back to Bengaluru the same night and handed him to the SIT.
