Sanction Mangaluru railway division: D.K. MP

Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met Union ministers Manoj Sinha and Rajen Gohain and urged them to sanction Mangaluru railway division to benefit the people of coastal districts and to take measures to upgrade Mangaluru Central Railway Station to international standards.
The MP said that the work on the third and fourth platform at Mangaluru Central Railway Station needs to accelerate and that along with sanctioning new building to the railway station, priority should also be given for other basic infrastructure facilities.
Nalin appealed to the minister to sanction eight RUB/ROB between Mangaluru and Subrahmanya. He also mentioned that the Subrahmanya- Sakleshpura line needs to be doubled and that the Subrahmanya Road Railway Station also needed upgrading.
Introduction of Mangaluru-Madgaon inter-city train and Mangaluru-Mumbai superfast train should be introduced and measures should be taken to run Gomateshwara Express daily, he added. The MP also demanded that the Chamarajanagara-Tirupathi (16219/20) train be extended to Mangaluru via Hassan and also Amaravathi Express between Howrah-Vasco be extended to Mangaluru via Mangaluru -Hubball-Dharwad-Hosapete-Ballari.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also demanded the sanctioning of a Shatabdi Express train to Chennai from Mangaluru via Hassan and the reintroduction of theMahalakshmi Express that was stopped during gauge conversion (Mangaluru-Hassan-Arasikere-Hubballi-Miraj). The MP also demanded that the Maveli Express between Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram should be extended to Kanyakumari.
