Act on prohibition of violence on doctors to be implemented

Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said that the Act with respect to the prohibition of violence against doctors and medicare service personnel will be reinforced further. 

He was addressing after inaugurating the new Cardiac-MRI department in Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in the city. “An Act was framed to consider the assault on doctors as a non-bailable offense. Nonetheless, it has come to light that this Act, which was implemented in 2007, isn’t effective. This will be made more stringent and implemented,” he said. 

“The present Act was framed 12-years-prior when I was the Chief Minister considering the episodes wherein the relatives of the deceased patient assaulted the doctors even after the deceased individual was given proper medicinal care,” he included. 

“People of rural regions also should get good medical care. People who have become doctors on the free medicinal seat of the government should compulsorily serve in rural regions. Essential action will be taken to implement this” he said. 

The Chief Minister likewise said that a meeting of all the district medical officers (DMO) is slated in the first week of August to talk about the issues concerning the offices and staff accessibility in government hospitals.
