Mangaluru: On her recent visit to Mangaluru, Kannada and Cultural Department Minister Dr Jayamala openly opposed the ban on the entry of women into Sabarimala temple. “It has not been mentioned anywhere in the constitution that there is a separate god for men and a god for women. Hence, what if it’s a man or a woman? God is one for all. This division in relation to the entry into the temple is against the intent of the constitution.”

On her visit to Mangaluru, she spoke with ‘Udayavani’ on the Supreme Court’s decision on the entry for women at Sabarimala temple.

“Supreme Court’s opinion is welcomed. Born as a human, everyone has the right to worship their god. A few are indulging in the removal of this right. I have full faith in the judiciary and that justice will prevail. The constitution will protect us and for this, I remember Ambedkar,” she said.

“To the question that there are a few who are discussing regarding the entry of women to a few temples, the Supreme Court has informed that the women have the constitutional right for it. It is women’s right to enter Sabarimala temple opinionated the Supreme Court. Temple is the place where devotees keep forth their wishes in front of the God. This is where the devotees communicate with God. Gender discrimination is against the law, ” she added.

She spoke about Karavali, her birthplace and said “Tulu Nadu is her birthplace. If I get the opportunity to pay back its debt, I’ll put 100% effort into it. I’ll give more attention to the Karavali district. Encouragement will be given to those who have collected things on those who built, ruled and things related to the rulers of Tulu Nadu,” she informed.
