Separatist to hoist ‘North Karnataka’ Flag

Belagavi: The Uttara Karnataka Horata Samiti is all set to hoist a new flag for their region in front of the Suvarana Vidhana Soudha here today.

The police however will be preventing the group from doing so.

The saffron yellow and green flag has a map of 13 districts in the centre. 

When 50 seers who participated in the protest, waved ‘North Karnataka state’ flags that had a map of the 13 northern districts. The police intervened immediately and seized all the flags.   

The seers and State BJP President B S Yeddyurappa tried to placate the protesters.  

Panchama Shivalingeshwar Swamiji, who is also the president of Horata Samiti, headed the day-long protest. The seer urged the state government to provide a special budgetary package to the north Karnataka region to set right the regional imbalance.
