Padil: A bike rider died on the spot after a lorry hit the bike he was riding on Saturday morning, August 4th. The deceased has been identified as Prajwal D’souza from Puttur and was employed at a watchman in the city.
Prajwal was on his way to Nanthoor from Padil when the lorry hit him from the rear. The rider was trapped between the wheels of the lorry but the lorry did not stop and the victim was dragged along for many meters, which only aggravated his injuries.
Though a ‘108’ ambulance was called for, it took pretty long time to reach the spot. On reaching the location, the ambulance staff realized that the victim was no more and they refused to transfer his mortal remains to a hospital. Later, the corpse was transferred to the Government Wenlock hospital through a private ambulance.
The police are investigating the incident and the lorry driver is presently absconding.
