Air India had cancelled IC 1680 Mangaluru-Mumbai and IC 1679 BOM-IXE-BOM and IC 1679 Mumbai-Mangaluru flights starting July 12 up to September 30, ostensibly for Haj operations.
The MP informed the union minister that Mangaluru and Mumbai are fast growing cities and a lot of business interests in terms of major industries and software firms happen between them and also hundreds of passengers fly between the two cities daily. Additionally, passengers use BOM as a hub for their onward journey across the globe. Therefore, the reintroduction of the service is vital to the interest of all the stakeholders, explained Nalin.
In response, Mr. Prabhu directed the national carrier officials to restart the service immediately once the schedule drawn for Haj operations – a period of 81-days ended on September 30.
