DK Shiv seeks center’s nod to reservoirs at Mekedatu

Bengaluru: State government seeked permission from the Centre on construction of reservoirs at Mekedatu near Ramanagara here.

Water Resources Minister, D K Shivakumar met the Union Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari and requested that if the project comes up, it would help in storing excess water from the Cauvery here. 

DK Shivakumar however clarified that, constructing a reservoir here would however not obstruct water flow to Tamil Nadu. 

Instead of flowing excess water to sea, it can be stored at balancing reservoir and utilised by both the states, he clarified. 

He also sought Rs 4,450 crore for renovating the crest gates of Narayanpura, Kadra and Ghataprabha reservoirs.
