Relief materials to rain-hit Kodagu from coastal Kodavas

Mangaluru: Relief materials will be collected by the Kodava Students Association of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on August 19th-20th and be sent to flood-hit Kodagu district.
On Saturday, advisor of Kodava Students Association S P Chengappa addressed media here and said, The relief material will be collected on August 19 and 20 at SDM Law College from 9 am to 5 pm. Materials like medicines, blankets, tooth paste, brush and other necessary things will be collected and will be sent to Kodagu district.”
“Kodagu district has been completely devastated by continuous rains which have claimed 6 lives. Over 200 people are reported missing. More than 500 people are stranded due to landslides. The entire Kodagu district is in a critical condition. While many places are submerged in water, rains continue to lash the district,” added Mr. Chengappa.
“Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioners are working hard in carrying out the rescue operations. DRF, army, coast guard and navy also are conducting rescue operations. “Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioners are working hard in carrying out the rescue operations. Government has given Rs 100 crore as relief, but as Kodagu is devastated completely we demand Rs 1000 crore as relief,” demanded Mr. Chengappa and requested people in DK district to lend a helping hand and generously contribute relief material aid.
