Police seize ganja, arrest drug peddlers

Sullia: Two drug peddlers were arrested for possession and sale of marijuana after police under the leadership of DCIB police inspector Sunil Y Nayak intercepted a motor cycle and an auto rickshaw near Vivekananda circle, Kasaba village here on August 18th.
The arrested accused have been identified as Theerthaprasad (25), resident of Kasaba village, Sullia, and Vinayaka (30), resident of Chickamudnur village, Puttur taluk. Two cases of peddling ganja are pending against Theerthaprasad at Sullia police station and one case on illegal trade is pending against Vinayaka at Puttur police station.
After receiving definite tip off, the police conducted the operation. The police pursued the duo when they attempted to flee seeing the police. The suspects were surrounded, caught and subjected to interrogation.
During the operation the police seized Ganja weighing 1.39 kg and the vehicles used for the transport the drug. The total value of the seized items amounts to Rs. 2,42,190.
