Muzrai department plans to transfer funds towards flood relief

Bengaluru: The state government has decided to use temple donations to fund the ongoing flood rescue and relief operations in the state. The Muzrai Department on August 21, issued an order to transfer Rs 12.3 Crores from 81 temples under its control for the purpose.

The Muzrai department has instructed the temple administrations to deposit amounts into the Muzrai account.
The department has asked Kukke Subramanya Kshetra to contribute the highest amount of Rs 3 Crore, whereas Kollur Mookambika Temple and Chamundeshwary Temple in Mysuru have been asked to pay Rs 1 crore each. Kateel Durgaparameshwari Temple has been asked to deposit Rs 75 lakh for this cause.
The Muzrai department has also instructed to install separate donation boxes at the temple premises for collecting donations for the relief works.
