Bengaluru: Big Boss Kannada season five winner Chandan Shetty has landed himself in trouble for having lent his voice to a song promoting the use of marijuana.
The Central Crime Branch officials had served a notice on the rapper on August 23, asking him to appear for questioning by August 24. However, it is gathered that Shetty has not appeared before the police until Monday night.
The song titled ‘Anthya’ was released in 2015 and had turned out to be an instant hit. The composition goes as: ‘Dhammu bidabeda, ade namage beer yettodu halathagide, ganga yeleyodu hosatagide, bhangi yelakondu nagutha iru, shivanu hididare bhangiyanthe, navu hididare kambi anthe, bidabeda dhammu, nammaya palige ide whisky rammu.’
The police who are waiting for Chandan to respond to the notice will decide their next course of action only after knowing Shetty’s behind the lyrics.
“He has a huge fan following and if he promotes a banned drug, there are chances of a large number of his fans getting addicted to it. It also amounts to violation of NDPS act so we had issued a notice to him,” a CCB official stated.
However, if he fails to appear before the CCB in the next couple of days necessary action is likely to be initiated against him.
