AAI to fund Malavoor village drainage scheme

Mangaluru: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has decided to fund the complete drainage scheme at Malavoor village near Mangaluru International Airport (MIA).
The project, estimated to cost Rs 6.75 crore has been undertaken in the interest of public welfare and aims to protect the life, properties of residents of the village from any future flood-type situation in the absence of the stormwater drainage system. The AAI has requested the state government to ensure that design and construction of the drainage system is in line with the norms of the National Disaster Management System.
Presently, there is no stormwater drainage system in Malavoor Village.
The signing of the MOU for this project between AAI and the state government is planned in next week, stated a release issued by the MIA
