Mortal remains of Gilbert Mendonca found

Madikeri: The mortal remains of Gilbert Mendonca who went missing after saving his family from a collapsing house in Kodagu, were found on Wednesday, August 29th.

Due to heavy rains and landslides in the area, the family house of Gilbert, situated in Katikeri village near to Green Line Resort, started collapsing on Auguist 16th.  Gilbert managed to save his five family members before the house collapsed. However, after rescuing, the deceased went closer to the house for a look when he was buried under a huge pile of mud.

The rescued family members were taken to K R Hospital in Mysuru for treatment and are said to be responding well to the given treatment.

Search operation

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local rescue team conducted a search with the help of heavy machineries and cleared the mud which had completely buried the house. They finally located the corpse which is said to have been in the state of putrefaction.
