Govt school teacher sends vulgar message to girl student, arrested

Puttur: The Puttur Rural Police arrested a government school teacher, under the POSCO act, for allegedly sending obscene messages to a girl student.

A Mandya native, Manjunath (32),  a teacher of the government high school at Nettanige Mudnooru village reportedly sent vulgar text messages to the Class 10 girl student of the school on Wednesday.

The girl student brought this to the notice of her father, who along with other locals visited the school and confronted the school headmaster and Manjunath over the latter’s conduct.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the girls’ parents, the police arrested Manjunath and confiscated his mobile phone. He has been booked under the POSCO Act.

On Thursday, the accused was produced before the court which remanded him to 14 days in judicial custody.
