Bengaluru: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) official conducted a surprise check on 150 school vehicles and 28 vehicles were found guilty for violation the safety norms.
The RTO officer said that many of these vehicles had no permission to ferry children. In many cases the attendants were absent and in some cases they were caught for overloading. Auto-rickshaws should not carry more than five school children, but we found many had more than 10. Parents should be careful about this,”.
He said that many schools, including some well known, were not following the safety norms laid to them. Hence the parents are forced to rely on autos, he added.
