Belthangady: There is a lot of confusion in relation to the movement of heavy vehicles along the Charmadi Ghat and in this backdrop passage for 6 wheeler goods vehicle along the Ghat has been permitted by the order of Dakshina Kannada (D.K.) Deputy Commissioner (DC) on Thursday.

As per the order, passage has been provided to 6 wheeler lorries’ with 2 axels and goods vehicle with a maximum length of 20 feet and weighing less than 16 tons. In order to prevent the entry of heavy vehicles into the Ghat road, the police had stopped all lorries at Guruvayanakere which consequently led to a complete traffic jam on Thursday morning.

Belthangady Tahsildar Madan Mohan arrived to the location and gave the direction for the lorries to pass through the Ghat road. Later, he requested the DC to provide permission for the passage of 6 wheeler goods vehicles via the Ghat road and therefore the DC passed the new order.

On Thursday, with the access given to the lorries, the vehicle density increased on Charmadi Ghat road which led to a little problem with the vehicular movement. The slow pace by which the vehicles were moving also did create a bit of a traffic problem.
