Mangaluru: The police escorting a notorious rowdy from Mangaluru Jail acted in violation to the law and stopped their vehicle on the roadside, allowing his family members to meet him. The incident took place in front of Kadri police station.
The police allowed Naufal, an accused in the double murder case in Farangipete, to meet his wife, child and family members without consent from higher officials. The accused was being escorted by Tumakuru police to Mangaluru jail in connection with a case.
This violation of rules by stopping the police vehicle in the middle of the road so that the accused could meet his family members has attracted much anguish from the people. Favouring the accused without the permission of higher authorities is an example of dereliction of duty, it is alleged.
