Puttur/Muscat: A man from Puttur lost his life along with five other people in a gruesome accident which happened in the Sultanate of Oman on August 20. The deceased from Puttur has been identified as Prashanth Nayak (40), who lived near the Laxmi Venkatesh Temple. The information of the accident came out late.
On August 20, the car in which Prashanth was travelling with Ankush Sharma, Sushil Rukhayyar and Gaurav Sharma from Jaipur collided with another car carrying two people. Instantly on collision, both the cars were engulfed in flames resulting in the charring of the corpses.
Prashanth had visited Oman along with friends to spend the three days Bakrid holiday. He had earlier worked in Dubai and Muscat.
Since the fire had completely charred the mortal remains of the victim, the body of Prashanth was identified by matching DNA with that of Prashanth’s brother, Jagadeesh Nayak, who works in Muscat.
According to sources, all the legal procedures were completed by August 31 and Prashanth’s body is said to arrive at his relative’s residence here in Mangaluru either on September 3 or 4.
The family was able to expedite the process with the help of MLA Raghupati Bhat and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
