108 ambulance stalls mid-way to hospital!

Udupi: A 108 ‘Arogya Kavacha’ ambulance taking a patient to the hospital brokedown in mid-way to the hospital at the junction in the city on Tuesday. However, the traffic police and public put in their shoulders and pushed the vehicle to a start, thereby reaching the ailing patient to the hospital within good time.

On Tuesday evening around 5:15 pm, a heart patient in a serious condition was transferred in a 108 ambulane to Manipal hospital from Ajjarakadu district hospital. But, the ambulance spontaneously stalled at Kalsanka junction. The numerous attempts by the helpless driver to re-start the engine were futile. The terrified family members of the invalid in the ambulance started screaming.

Immideately, two traffic police responded to the situation and started pushing the vehicle. Even the locals joined in on this and together were successful on restarting the vehicle. The patient was safely reached to Manipal hospital within good time.

This has happened previously too

It is learnt that this 108 ambulance which stands at Ajjarakadu hospital recently had brokendown halfway, while transferring a patient from the hospital to Mangaluru.
