Udupi: The Superintendent of girls Bala Mandir at Nittur here has been suspended on the basis of a report submitted by Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis seeking disciplinary action against the official for dereliction of duty.

The official, Huligevva S Joger stands suspended, until completion of a department enquiry, in accordance with Karnataka Civil Service Rules 1957.

The suspension order, issued by Dr Arundhati Chandrashekhar, Director of the Women and Child Department also mentions that Huligevva needs to obtain prior permission from higher officials if he were to leave the headquarters during the suspension period.

The report submitted by the Udupi DC stated that there were several allegations against Huligevva, few of which include delay in following her superiors’ orders, leaving the headquarters without obtaining permission when the election code of conduct was in force, misbehaving with visiting members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), going on leave from July 2 to 31 without seeking permission which led to  delay in issuance of staff salary and so on.

In June last year, Chairman of CWC, Ronald Furtado and members Muralidhar Shetty, Nagarathna, Mohan Kumar and Akhil B Hegde had tendered their resignations to the member secretary of Karnataka State Integrated Children Protection Society as they were upset that no action had been initiated against Huligevva for behaving in a rude manner with CWC members in relation to a case
