Mangaluru: Footpaths are a primary requirement for the smooth functioning of people’s life but accessing most of the footpaths along the prominent roads in the city is a dangerous challeneg in itself. Here are the thoughts and photographic proofs from the people affected by the state of disrepair the footpaths in the city are.
Valencia
“The stones placed on the drain besides Valencia road have lifted up. The drain is filled with mud, resulting in the rain water flowing on the road,” said BSNL laborers at Kankanady.
Near Empire Mall
”Since 6 months, a tree trunk has been placed at the two wheeler parking space near Empire Mall and TMA Pai convention centre, which has caused much trouble to two wheeler riders who are now unable to park their vehicles,” said Harish from Ashoknagar.
Pumpwell
“The road from Pumpwell in the heart of the city to old Kankanady road has been concretized but the drainage work has been left halfway. Because of this, most of the vehicles find it hard to pass through this way. Even though the issue has been brought before the related authority, nothing has happened,” says Harish from Pumpwell.
Urwa Store
“This is the footpath in Urwa Store Junction that is inviting danger. The path for walking is very narrow and now there is a hole in between. This has become a big headache for pedestrians here,” said Astal D’Souza from Urwa Store.
