Bengaluru: Rubbishing the allegations made by MP DK Suresh as ‘baseless’, BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa, on Saturday denied having written any letter to the income tax department and said that the letter released by DK Suresh was a ‘fake’ one.
“Fake letter claimed to be written by me by DKS brothers today shows the desperation of Congress to save its unholy government. I have never indulged in such cheap politics and would retire from politics if it is proven,” he tweeted
Meanwhile, the BJP, in a series of tweets pointed out differences in the letterhead of the “fake” letter by posting an image of another letter Yeddyurappa had written. “The fake letter provides the address of Yeddyurappa’s residence in Bengaluru, but the phone number furnished is that of his Shivamogga residence. Also, Yeddyurappa ends his letters by signing on the right side, but in the fake letter, the signature is on the left side,” BJP stated.
Earlier yesterday, DK Suresh had alleged that a letter written by Yeddyurappa had sparked Income tax raids at the residence, offices of DK Shivakumar and his associates.
The BJP is indulging in revenge politics and is misusing the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to target him and his brother D.K. Shivakumar, Minister for Water Resources, said Suresh and even released a letter, to support his allegations. The letter, allegedly written by B.S. Yeddyurappa, on January 10 last year to the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes Sushil Chandra sought action against him and D.K. Shivakumar for irregularities and corruption.
Suresh also claimed that BJP leaders were trying to destabilize the state government and few of their leaders were openly saying that D.K. Shivakumar would be arrested in the coming week. He added that he has sought an appointment with the Prime Minister to draw his attention to the issue of misuse of central agencies.
Following Yeddyurappa’s response, Suresh said that the BJP state president should file a complaint with the I-T dept. demanding a probe as to who wrote the letter to them in his name.
