Mangaluru: “If my party high command gives me the ticket, I will definitely contest the Lok Sabha elections next year. I have absolutely no issues in contesting the polls,” said former union minister and senior Congressman B Janardhana Poojary on Sunday, September 9th.
Slams Congress for calling country-wide bandh
“It is wrong to call for bandh. Even the Supreme Court has said that the party or organisation which calls for bandh has to compensate the losses suffered by the country. Every party should think before calling for bandh,” said Mr. Poojary, taking exception to the party’s bandh call.
“Rising prices is a big problem. The government should take strong measures to curb the upward march of prices. But expecting the state or central government to reduce cess to help the general public is just a dream. That can never happen. Being a former finance minister myself, I tried to lower cess and later realised that it was wrong. We cannot do that. If we do that, how will the government run?” he questioned.
Illegal hoarding of grains
He spoke on illegal hoarding of grains and other necessary goods and said that people indulging in illegal hoarding of necessary goods should be put into jail.
